Introduction
The release date of the new version of Microsoft SQL Server is scheduled for November 7, 2005. Preliminary impact analysis testing with the beta release of SQL Server 2005 and our affected software products, Rembrandt® Lending System and ARTA® Deposit Documentation System, has been completed. Based on the beta release of SQL Server 2005, installation, configuration and documentation changes will need to be made to both ARTA Deposit and Rembrandt before we can fully support the new version with our customers. Once the final release of SQL Server 2005 is available, a full regression test will be completed with our software. Currently we are planning full support of SQL Server 2005 with the May 2006 release of ARTA Deposit 6.0 and the June 2006 release of Rembrandt 10.0.
How to prepare
The new versions of all editions have updated requirements for operating systems, service packs, processor speed and RAM. For additional information on SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition or SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, please visit Microsoft.com.
Microsoft SQL Express requires that you implement the latest operating system service pack. Please verify your service pack level before attempting to install ARTA Deposit 6.0 or Rembrandt 10.0 (see below). Service pack installations can take up to 2 ½ hours to complete, assuming high speed internet access.

We have no plans to discontinue our support of SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition. Our customers using SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition can continue to use version 2000, as stated in our system requirements.
SQL Server 2005 is available in several editions. We have elected to support two of the editions, SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. We will not fully support SQL Server 2005 Standard or Express Edition until the spring 2006 release of both ARTA Deposit and Rembrandt. Any new or existing customers considering the purchase of SQL Server 2005 prior to the spring of 2006 will do so outside of our recommended timeframe and can expect limited information and limited support options availability. We will be using this time to complete our testing, make modifications to our software installation routines, update our installation documentation, revise our system requirements and train our staff to support the new version.
The tentative plan for our customers using our provided MSDE/SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine would include a migration to SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with the spring 2006 release of ARTA Deposit and the summer 2006 release of Rembrandt.
As we have additional information, we will share it with you on our web site.
